Toward the end of my undergraduate education I started moving away from ceramics as my sole medium. At the time, one of my ceramics instructors, Jon Stokesbary, was working in as many different mediums as he could get his hands on. He made large mixed media sculptures that demanded to be viewed both in their size and beauty. His work was a great inspiration to me and started me down a path that was not limited to one medium. Thank you, Jon.

My early mixed media works were big. So big that I had to destroy most of them to due a lack of storage space. My work has since grown in content, but has shrank in size. I like to think of them as tighter rather than smaller. I still have great fondness for large scale work and I am particularly impressed with installation art. At some point, I too hope to venture down this path.

In the future, I plan to post "how to's" on some of the techniques that I have used in this early work. Wall mounting and assembly tips as well as detailed instructions on how to do acrylic transfers onto steel.
